This post is a must read as creating interview opportunities is truly the most effective way to find a job. For example, a friend introduced me to the Managing Partner of a CPA firm and we had a telephone networking conversation. This firm doesn’t have an open business development position which is my goal. However, during our conversation, he mentioned that he could possibly add another business development position. I’m having a coffee networking meeting with him and his head of Business Development next week. In another example, I set up a call with the head of Deloitte’s Global Benchmarking Center to see if he would be willing to speak at a conference. He committed one of his senior managers to speak. As we were wrapping up, I mentioned that I had recently launched a job search. So he said, “Would you consider working for me?”. So he connected me with his National Director of Sales and a consulting position was created for me.
