{"id":1761,"date":"2022-08-25T11:36:03","date_gmt":"2022-08-25T16:36:03","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/blogs.owen.prd.vanderbilt.edu\/hccc\/?page_id=1761"},"modified":"2024-07-31T08:25:09","modified_gmt":"2024-07-31T13:25:09","slug":"faqs-teams","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/blogs.owen.vanderbilt.edu\/hccc\/faqs-teams\/","title":{"rendered":"Team FAQs"},"content":{"rendered":"<div>\n<h3>1) WHO IS ELIGIBLE TO PARTICIPATE IN THE COMPETITION?<\/h3>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<p>The Competition is open\u00a0only\u00a0to students who:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>have earned a bachelor\u2019s degree<\/li>\n<li>are enrolled in a full-time, US-based MBA program<\/li>\n<li>have not previously completed an MBA degree program<\/li>\n<li>have at least 2 years of prior full-time work experience<\/li>\n<li>are age 18 or older<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Current and former principals or employees of Bank of America Corporation are NOT eligible to participate in the Competition, nor are students at Vanderbilt Owen Graduate School of Management who are participating in the planning of the Competition (the \u201cOwen Case Competition Leadership Team\u201d).\u00a0Participants in prior National MBA Human Capital Case Competitions are not eligible to compete in the Competition.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<h3>2) ARE INTERNATIONAL STUDENTS PERMITTED TO PARTICIPATE IN THE COMPETITION?<\/h3>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<p>Yes, international students are permitted to participate in the competition provided they meet the criteria stated in the \u201cwho is eligible to participate in the competition\u201d question above.<\/p>\n<div>\n<h3>3) WHAT ARE THE TEAM COMPOSITION REQUIREMENTS FOR THE COMPETITION?<\/h3>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<p>The team composition requirements are the following:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Each team must have 4-5 MBA students:\n<ul>\n<li>At least half of the team must be first-year students<\/li>\n<li>All students must have earned bachelor\u2019s degrees<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li>Former Bank of America employees are NOT eligible to participate<\/li>\n<li>Part-time students and Executive MBAs are NOT eligible to participate<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Once a team has become a Selected Team, any replacement personnel for a Selected Team must submit an application in accordance with the substitution\u00a0process (Team FAQ #6) in order to be included in the Competition on such Selected Team, unless expressly permitted by Sponsor through written approval. Without approval, a Selected Team may be disqualified at the Sponsor\u2019s discretion if all five\u00a0members of the\u00a0Selected Team are not present for either or both presentations.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<h3>4) CAN MULTIPLE TEAMS FROM MY SCHOOL APPLY?<\/h3>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<p>Yes. However, if multiple teams from one school apply, only one team may be selected to participate in the competition and represent the school.\u00a0 Keep in mind that a student may only apply on one application. A student cannot apply on multiple applications.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<h3>5) I WANT TO PARTICIPATE, BUT NEED SOME TIME AND\/OR HELP TO ROUND OUT A TEAM FROM MY SCHOOL. WHAT SHOULD I DO?<\/h3>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<p>That\u2019s great to hear!\u00a0 Please\u00a0<a href=\"mailto:HumanCapitalCaseCompetition@owen.vanderbilt.edu\">send us an email<\/a>\u00a0letting us know your interest, and we will work with you to help put together a team.\u00a0 Please note the team composition requirements outlined in the Team FAQ #3.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<h3>6) ONE OF OUR TEAMMATES WILL NO LONGER BE ABLE TO PARTICIPATE. MAY WE MAKE A SUBSTITUTION?<\/h3>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<p>Teams were selected after review of individual and collective qualifications, and thus we discourage substitutions.\u00a0 However, if a substitution cannot be avoided, each team is allowed to request one substitution, but the substitute must meet the eligibility criteria.\u00a0 If you would like to request a substitution, please send an email to\u00a0<a href=\"mailto:humancapitalcasecompetition@owen.vanderbilt.edu?subject=Human%20Capital%20Case%20Competition\">humancapitalcasecompetition@vanderbilt.edu<\/a>\u00a0with\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/blogs.owen.prd.vanderbilt.edu\/hccc\/application\/\">this year\u2019s application information<\/a>\u00a0for the substitute applicant.<\/p>\n<p>The HCCC leadership team will review the application and will notify the team if the applicant is accepted to join the team.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<h3>7) CAN NON-TRADITIONAL MBAS APPLY?<\/h3>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<p>Executive MBA programs are not considered \u201cfull-time\u201d MBA programs by the National MBA Human Capital Case Competition, and thus, students enrolled in such programs cannot participate in the competition. Part-time MBA students are not eligible to apply.
