Q4: Please briefly describe what you actually did this summer

I performed data analysis on supplier spend, product and performance metrics for the Global Orthopedics division of J&J. I also worked with global teams and formulated a 5 year strategy to significantly reduce the supply base.

Q5: What were some things you liked about your internship experience?

Ease of access to senior leadership across all business segments (consumer products, pharma, and medical devices). Autonomy and independence in my project. Community and support of the PLDP intern class. Responsibility over a critical project for the company that was rolled out before my internship ended.

Q6: What were some things you didn’t like?

Location – Raynham, MA Not being placed in NJ where the company is headquartered and where a majority of the interns were located.

Q7: Did you have a large project that lasted the entire summer? If so, please describe it briefly

I worked on a supply base optimization project. A strategic initiative for the company was to reduce the supply base by 30% over the next five years. My project focused on the Global Orthopedic suppliers and involved almost 2000 suppliers and $1.2 billion in supplier spend.
