Whisked away by memory From the Spring 2016 edition of Vanderbilt Business By | Lasting Impression Remember popping across the street from Management Hall to eat at IHOP, Wendy’s, Ken’s Sushi or Burger King? They’re gone now. You won’t believe how the oft-changing, scraggly row of restaurants, bars and retail has changed. Today, the construction of a new 17-story, 600,000-square-foot mixed-use complex looms over the corner of Broadway and 21st where the restaurants were. The IHOP has been gone for years, replaced by an electric vehicle charging station. A new pedestrian-friendly crosswalk features a much-needed traffic light and a giant whisk (it’s a bike rack). But all is not lost—Mellow Mushroom and SATCO remain in their usual places. Photo by Anne Rayner Gerald Holly image circa 1995, courtesy of Special Collections and University Archives.
