GMAT Update – Choose The Order of Your Test Sections

Beginning July 11, 2017, GMAT test takers will have the flexibility to choose the order of their test sections. Currently, GMAT test takers must take the test in the following order: analytical writing assessment, integrated reasoning, quantitative, verbal. Beginning in July 2017, students will have the option to choose to start with the analytical writing assessment, verbal or quantitative sections. Test takers will be able to select their preferred section order at the test center on testing day.

Sarah Fairbank, Director of Recruiting for Vanderbilt Executive MBA Programs believes that this change will be especially beneficial for prospective Executive MBA students. “Since most of our prospective students have been out of school for years or even decades, they tend to be nervous about going back to school and especially of taking a standardized test,” says Fairbank. “The flexibility of choosing the testing order will help these test takers have more control over the testing process, which should in turn help their performance.”
