What convinced you that you could or should do the Vanderbilt EMBA Global Immersion track?
I chose Vanderbilt because of its proximity to my company’s offices in the Memphis area. I chose the Global Immersion program over the more traditional EMBA experience, because it is enabling me to be seen by my client base as having proficiency with companies centered in the Americas. I am also able to bring to the table a unique experience not common among other consulting firms.
What was the greatest hurdle you overcame to start or finish the program?
Managing the time requirements for my board chair positions, client work, family time, and school work was the greatest hurdle that I had to overcome. Time management became a crucial element that I had to master. I found that the AMBA program created a pathway that allowed me to succeed at prioritization.
How has your approach to global business changed as a result of being part of the Global Immersion track?
I am now able to talk specifically to the startups that I advise about global implications of product development and product launch. The startups that I am working with are focused on efforts that were similar to the projects I did at school. As a result, this gives me a head start with my clients and it has been instrumental in helping them advance.
